I'm coming down to Duke on the 21st of November. I'd like to do something in addition to the typical admissions speech and campus tour. What should I check out? Where should I eat? I'm thinking of doing economics. Any specifics I should check out that pertain to that major? Coming from Ohio this is my one shot to visit.

It sounds terrible, but Duke basketball is a major reason why I want to go there. I'm looking forward to camping outside the arena. If Duke-UNC atmosphere is anything like last year's OSU-Michigan (football) game I am in for a great 4 years. The intellectual side of the school is great too. The sky is the limit at Duke.

I knew it, I just could tell. Most folks who go to Duke are entranced by the famous antics of camping out for a ticket.......yea you will have a grand time for four years. Have a good visit.

practice is open every once in a while - if you're eating on campus I'd go to LSRC cafe or the economics building place. If off campus cinelli's is good, it's right near east campus. Duke's a great place to visit actually - there will undoubtedbly be some kind of sporting event even if you can't see basketball. Field hockey is pretty sweet actually and check if there's a soccer game. Go to the Duke Gardens and check out the Nasher Musuem - they're both pretty amazing.

The Economics building? Do you mean the Institute of Public Policy?

Yes definitely go to Duke gardens and Nasher, as benndaman said, they won't be on your tour. Go inside the new library and the VDH Pavillion/Perk (which should be open and serving food by then...) Look at the public policy buildings, Sanford is pretty cool inside.

the primate center is AWESOME, but call in advance. Oh gosh the lemurs are probably the greatest creatures in the history of the world.

go get a milkshake from the loop! That...now that is a way of life.

I second going to the Sanford Institute...it's pretty hardcore. Just hang out too...it's hard being an outsider looking in, but grab a milkshake and just watch what goes on because you'll always see students studying on the quad and people just, in general, loving duke:)
