Paying for college: NYU

Hello, I was wondering if there was anyone out there that you know of that had to pay for their own college and went to a very expensive college such as NYU or even a private liberal arts college?

Tuition is about $37k for NYU not including room and board.

Just wondering people's experience with paying off an incredibly large loan.

Thanksssss

I’m just wondering if this is possible/see how hard it is to pay it off after college.

Well, it’s possible, but it won’t be easy. Have you applied for financial aid? If you haven’t, go do it, now- even if the deadlines have passed.

You should definitely get a job at NYU (i.e. working in the bookstore, giving tours- or, if you want something interesting, you might be able to research with a professor; as an upperclassmen, you could be an RA) or somewhere in the city (i.e. a pizzeria or ice cream place) during the year, and work during the summer- maybe work 2 jobs during the summer.

Also, start applying like crazy for outside scholarships- fastweb.com and scholarshipexperts.com are good resources.

what are your other options?

I have a cousin who is paying off a gargantuan debt for Cornell (which is SLIGHTLY less than NYU). She said its not easy at all, but the companies will work with you & wont jack up interest rates
