I thought about joining the Marine Reserves for college so that they can pay my college tuition. How does that sound?
If you have a genuine interest in serving your country, it sounds fine. If you just want the money, it sounds cynical and risky.
In the part of the country where I live, a lot of young people went into the reserves and the Guard immediately after high school. It was such a great deal!
And then we invaded Iraq.
I plan on joining Marines after college, so its not just for the money.
Then go for it. Read the fine print carefully about when you do have to serve vs. attending school and what minimums are required.
