I’ve seen several threads here with students concerned about expenses. My D was accepted with a scholarship and was pretty excited about Seton Hall after reading all the literature. We both liked how many students were working internshps related to their major.
Then we visited the school and learned that internships were required and often unpaid. Meaning you’d lose money on a summer internship because you’d have to pay housing - and you’d lose the opportunity to get a paying job and contribute to your education.
But it gets worse. Something the program director said had set off a little alarm in my head and I did some digging and discovered that not only are you paying for housing - you may actually be paying summer tuition to work an unpaid internship! As a parent, it feels completely exploitative to me.
