Hi, I was just wondering where to shop for the uniform at Peddie for girls. If anyone who goes to Peddie can help, that would help a ton. I’ve read the handbook for uniform guidelines, too. Thanks!
P.S. Can you wear jeggings?
@applicntpschool3 Peddie doesn’t have a uniform.
- During the academic day, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, a
student may wear:
• Collared shirts, sweaters, Peddie t-shirts or Peddie Sweatshirts
• Dress pants, skirts, dresses, rompers, or leggings provided top is appropriate in length.
• Sneakers, dress shoes, loafers, sandals, or boots - During Family Style Dinner, Convocation, Graduation,
and other designated community events, students must wear:
• Sport coat or blazer, collared shirt, a tie, dress pants, and dress shoes
• Dress, skirt and top, or dress pants and top, and dress shoes - Dress code during dinner, Saturday lunch, and Sunday brunch,
all Peddie students must:
• Dress in such a way to keep shoulders covered
• Wear shoes
• Pajamas are not permitted - Special Permissions:
• Special permissions, granted by the Athletics Office, will be given for athletes to wear team uniforms during the academic day, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
• Alternative dress days as designated by the Deans’ Office, for example, during Blair Week.
• Dress shorts, sandals, flip flops, and shower shoes may be worn from the opening of school until fall term long weekend and after spring break.
• Denim can be worn on Wednesdays , unless otherwise directed.
Note: If a class dean judges a student to be out of dress code, that student will likely receive a restriction.
Sorry, when I think of a uniform, I think of a very specific requirement. Peddie has more of a dress code - a framework that your choice must fit within.
For clothes that conform to dress code, you can really shop anywhere. My suggestion is to come with enough to get started and then supplement it once school starts. Then you can see what others are wearing and how that fits in to your style. You will see that there is a wide range of tastes/styles.
I would save jeggings for Wednesdays.
If you like comfy clothes, Peddie t-shirts/sweathshirts are great because are the only t’s/sweatshirts that are still within classroom dress code! You should be getting your first Peddie t-shirt during POCO (Orientation!)
Thanks! Are you allowed to wear any non collared shirts, or does every shirt have to have a collar if it isn’t a sweater/Peddie shirt? Also, leggings are allowed everyday, right?
@carpoolingma and @springfield18 ^
According to the dress code, leggings are fine if they have an appropriate top work with them. Leggings won’t work for events such as Family Style Dinners and Convocation which require “family style dress.”
I’m not sure exactly how to guide you regarding tops. Collared shirts, dressy tops, sweaters and, of course, Peddie sweatshirts should be fine for class. After class you can change into clothes for sports or more comfortable clothing.
I believe non-collared “blouses” are fine, but use your best judgement. Dress conservatively the first few days to get a sense of where the spiritual line is. If it doesn’t feel right, make a more conservative choice.
@applicntpschool3
Apparently you can now wear jeans (without holes or rips) to class and still be in dress code!
@carpoolingma oh yes on Wednesdays I believe?
@applicntpschool3
Everyday! (According to a recent email!)
Ha! Yeah, found about this late last week. Does make things a bit easier in choosing outfits.
@springfield18 @carpoolingma oh wow! were there any other changes?
