I applied to Dartmouth, which required a peer recommendation, and was wondering if I could mail this rec to Brown. I know Brown doesn’t ask for such a rec, but have any of you done this? Maybe they will toss it in the trash, but I was thinking it might be worth a shot–I think the Brown admissions people might really like the rec. Also, I know its way past the deadline, but if any of you think its worth a shot, I’ll go ahead and mail it in.

why not? it only cost a stamp, and the worst that can happen is that they'll throw it away

just make sure Brown is written and not Dartmouth lol :)

Ha yea, I'll make sure.

It's not that late past the deadline; they haven't processed a lot of stuff and definitely haven't started reading yet, so send away!

on the other hand, dartmouth (i think...i might be ought of touch now) is the only school that ostensibly asks for a peer recommendation and brown adcoms know that--they might just think you're confused. on the other hand, they also regularly read the postings in this forum so they might figure it out...

i guess it couldn't hurt

Well, I included a short cover letter sayig that a friend wrote a nice rec for me for a different college application. I told them that I understand if they wont be able to use the rec if it gives me an advantage over other applicants.

sounds good to me :)
