Pell Reduced - Fall
Your fall Pell Grant was reduced because you were not enrolled full-time at the end of the fifth week of the semester. You have received University Grant for the reduced amount so your overall amount of gift aid has not changed.

I got that message on myFinAid page... The semester hasn't even started yet, so why are they reducing my Pell Grant for not having 13 units? I currently have 8 enrolled units and 11 waitlisted units... Although the "UC Pell Grant Replacement" grant is equal to my old Pell Grant, I'm just wondering if I should email them about this? This didn't happen last year when I was waitlisted for only 5 units in the first week of school...

My cal grant got cut in half and i got a small University Grant… Dunno if this is similar to the issue you’re having though, since I didn’ get a message explaining why… But I too have less than the required amount of units. (only 1 class, + 3 waitlists -__-). I’ve emailed the finaid department, but haven’t gotten a response yet. Hopefully both of these cases are just easily fixable mistakes on their part.

Check your myFinAid page → Messages. They didn’t email me… they basically just put a message on my Financial Aid page. Im going to email them too then!

They did that to me for the middle class aid package too -____- if went from over 6k to 0. Apparently we are supposed to be checking that page “regularly for updates.”

They responded to my email and said that in my case the reduction is due to having less than the minimum amount of units. It should go back to normal once we sign up for enough units.

Don’t worry about it. The FA office should take care of everything. Send them an email and wait until Monday, but there’s no need to be in a rush to pay the charge.

So you have to be a full-time student by the end of the semester? Right now I am taking 13 credits at my community college but one class is only two months long. Does that mean my pell grant will be reduced as well?

Thanks excel! I’m in no rush to pay it either in case it’s some technical glitch. Some other friends are experiencing the same phenomenon (got charged $3k in CalGrant b/c of low in units).

Lets hope they’ll fix it w/o giving me a vague reply :(!
