And yes, t his does apply to this thread because I'm asking because I'm not sure if I'll get aid from my top choice, Brown, if I get in, God willing!!!! :)

Pretty low. I don't know the maximum EFC, but my EFC was hovering around 3,000 and I got a 1600 Pell Grant. It jumped to 6,000 this year and now I don't have one (and don't have a Perkins loan, either).

I had 1,600 for each semester.

I also have two older brothers in college so my EFC is probably pretty low.

I heard that if the student has an income of $3,800 (primarily for those of us with a community college and a part time job) or higher, they are ineligible for it. Unlike my bro, who works twice as much as I do, I actually saved money to pay summer tuiton.

okay yeah i don't qualify. lol

I dont know where htey come up with EFCs. My parents make about 80,000 a year, and our EFC is 18'000. We don't have 18,000 dollars! It's all loans. All loans.

here's a great solution, get married, then you get independent status and only ur income is considered for efc (which is nil for students)

trouble is finding somebody to do it with you who isn't blindly ignorant of the huge advantages of extra fin aid money
