Hi, CCC transfer here applying to UCSB, UCD. Yet to hear from both. I'm a Film and Media Studies major. Really nervous and I have this irrational thought that any display of optimism will jinx me, but I won't let that stop me from wishing all my peers the best of luck as we all push through this adverse process :).

Nah, man. It’s the Law of Attraction. Act like you’re going to get acceptance letters from both, and you will.

(At least that’s what I tell myself to keep from going nuts).

Most definitely! Gotta stop hammering the refresh button on my decisions page :(.

I’m assuming you didn’t apply for a TAG? Davis released their TAG decisions in November. So far they have proved to be quite helpful as I’ve already been accepted into Davis, Santa Cruz, and San Diego. Either way I don’t believe Film Studies is that competitive at least at Davis. Now I have a friend that applied as a Film Studies major to Cal which is probably quite competitive.

I applied to UCSD, UCSB, and UCD. I have an approved TAG with Davis, but that’s my back-up. I really want to get into UCSB, but my GPA wasn’t high enough for a TAG. I have a 3.06 GPA and applied for the pre-Biopsychology major and pre-Psychology major for my alternate at UCSB. For UCSD, I applied for the Psychology major. I’m slowly coming to the conclusion that I won’t get into SD, but I am extremely anxious about my SB decision :/

Hey! I’m film Studies also at UCSB and applied to Media at UCSD haven’t heard from either school…let me know if you hear anything! Good luck.

Thanks lexa and everyone else!

Got into UCSB. Had a low GPA like you (around 3.11 but that included a non-UC transferrable 5 unit course that I got a C in, so I know my UC GPA is a little higher). I assume I was one of the borderline students though since my GPA is so low. Did not apply to UCD cause I’m not really interested in film studies, I want to do production. However, I heard the few production classes you can take at SB are awesome because of the new building so I figured I’d apply there as a safety school. As of right now I’ve only been accepted to UCSC and UCSB so as of right now I’m not sure which I prefer. Good luck at UCD and UCSB.

Wow that’s exactly the reason why I really want to get into SB. I didn’t have enough equipment to have a portfolio so that I could apply to UCLA/USC, and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have gotten in anyway. What’d you do for extracirriculars/community service?
