iSeraphic - I’m sorry, but I’m rather paranoid and would rather not share my essay. Its not horrific, but certainly not an amazing essay.

Foxtails - I did apply ED. I guess that’s the optimistic way of seeing things. I was just hoping I wouldn’t have to write another darn essay. Oh well. What Penn wants, Penn gets.

Sorry but I don’t see it as a good thing… that might mean that you weren’t specific enough in your how will you engage academically at penn essay… but since they’re giving you a second chance it probably means that they’re hesitating to accept you

@thechor346: It means that your application is still being considered by the committee and as foxtails said, still being considered for admission. If you didn’t do so already, I would suggest writing another essay with more specifics, such as various programs at Penn to really show your interest.

^Yes! This is exactly why I wish I were in your situation. I mean, there’s a 3/4 chance that most of us are in the latter group. Good luck writing your new Why Penn!

OMG. Now i’m even more nervous, anyone get a similar email to thechor’s? if others got it then I feel that maybe its a good thing, however, if you were the only one, then maybe its a bad thing. Think about it, if they are asking only you, that means that there is probably something wrong with your specific app, but if they are contacting everyone, then it may mean that all those people are qualified and need a little push. Either way, it means that you are still being considered and it will probably boil down to what you send them. Good luck.

I guess what im trying to say is that they wouldn’t bother contacting you if you were getting rejected, you’re still a strong candidate and this letter could push you over into the accepted pile.

I think he contacted me mainly because (after reading over my why penn essay again) I failed to talk about “Why Penn” and I talked more about “Why a business major”. I’m so thankful that he even gave me the second chance.

Now I’m worrying about a word limit. I’m a little over 30 min in and I’ve already hit 500 words…

No kidding! I’ll be flying to Hawaii with my parents this break if accepted. If rejected, I’ll be sitting in front of my computer, scrambling to turn in all those other apps .____.

Other apps! Gosh I almost forgot about those :S
I’m soooo dead if (when) Penn rejects me.

@thechor346 - I definitely think this is a good thing. Sure, it may mean that you weren’t specific enough in your essay. But think about it. Penn doesn’t have to give a crap about people with incomplete apps! They have thousands of people like us spending time on sites like this lamenting about how much they love Penn. I think the fact that they emailed you specifically means they’re TRYING to push you over to the accepted pile, and that sure sounds like a good thing huh? ;)

Dean Furda noted in his tweet that today is the last day of selection committee meetings. I’m assuming that after today, all decisions are set in stone. I wonder why it’d take them so long to post the decisions.

They still haven’t sent us an email yet, either. I wonder if the Dec 12th date is set in stone. Maybe (and I hope this is true) they haven’t emailed us yet because they could still move the date up!
