^It should be noted that Penn only reports class rank when applicants give it. Many, many schools nowadays aren’t reporting rank, so schools don’t include them in their stats.

Anyone else making a mental list of why they might get in and then making a list why the won’t get in? I have been going back and forth from thinking that my chances are great and thinking my chances are horrible. I just want to know if I got in already! :/

^LOL you must be reading my mind. I’m alternating between intense worry and complete apathy every few minutes right now. It’s a really strange sensation.

^^^ Right. Some schools have even stopped ranking their students, because they think that ranking limits the amount of students from their school that can get into top colleges.

I understand that, but we still had to send in our official transcripts from our high school to penn. And transcripts state your rank?? I think I am dwelling on this too much. The anxiety of not knowing is starting to really get to me.

Your transcript only has your rank if your school does in fact rank and chooses to report that rank to colleges.

Well I guess I might make it if they buy my extracirricular activity, but, there are so many other great candidates, IDK. At one moment I’m like yeah, I can take those guys no prob and the next, I’m like, IM NOT GOING TO MAKE IT!!! ahhhhh 12th come faster!

I did not realize that students weren’t even ranked at high schools.Wow. I wish my school was like that, it’s ranking system is a little cruel, and it displays your rank and the class size on the transcript. An A in a Honors Class has the same value as an A in an AP class. In my opinion AP Physics Mechanics is not comparable to honors physics…

Regarding high school class rank, see page 11:

Thank you, that gave me some perspective.
Well there is nothing any of us can do now, good luck and lets hope the next seven days go by fast.

I bookmarked the countdown page that someone on CC posted earlier.

Now every time I open up my browser, the countdown clock slaps me in the face. Not sure if that was such a good idea anymore…

^ LOOOOL djfaoejfoakslxc

[Brown University Early Decision Countdown](http://yaybrown.com/)

Just thought I’d share this link from the Brown CC board… I thought it’s pretty cute. Anyone know how to make one for Penn? The whole addition of a chat feature makes that page slightly less daunting than the one I’ve home-paged now: [url=<a href=“Countdown to Dec 12, 2012 6:00 pm in Philadelphia”>Countdown to Dec 12, 2012 6:00 pm in Philadelphia]Countdown to Dec 12, 2012 6:00 PM in Philadelphia/url

:P

^ Indeed, that is quite the intimidating countdown clock

good idea im gonna get me some ice cream

Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. The admissions counselor for my region emailed me asking for more information on why I was interested in Penn and Wharton.

Is that normal? Does that mean my “why penn” essay wasn’t good enough? Do I have to write another one?

well thats just great

You can send your Why Penn essay to me and I can take a look. I applied ED too.

^^^ thechor346 - Did you apply ED? Take it as a good thing - it means they’re still considering your application, probably! And you still have a shot at admission! (So you’re better off than the ~75% of other ED applicants who probably have already been rejected )

damn the past couple of days have been filled with stress and deep kid cudi. i can honestly say i havent been more eager/nervous/scared/excited/everyotheremotion for a date quite like i am for this one.

wish the best of luck to everybody. i know the cliches about college admissions dont have much of a positive effect on my psyche, but for what it’s worth:

“it’s not about the name above the door. it’s about the name on the door.”
