^At least we’re better off than some other peer institutions that haven’t even notified applicants of the notification date!

i. e. UChicago… (Death glare at chicago admissions)

there is no way to get into UChicago for ea this year……so, penn please

^ agreed, ahhhhhh 12/12/12 come faster!!!

How many people on CC are applying to Wharton vs. Cas?

Btw. Does anyone else think that the 6 o’clock time is random? It’s always been 5

I think this is extremely unlikely. I was talking to a Penn admission officer recently and it sounded like they don’t particularly care about rankings.

I’m applying to Wharton.

Hey GrandPoohbah, where are you from just out of curiousity. It seems that your school is rediculously competitive for penn.

I find it highly unlikely that this is some ploy for a higher yield rate for Penn. The Ivy League, in general, disclaims the ranking system as an inaccurate way to search for colleges. It’s mostly for reputation, sure, but Ivy League schools have that without needing U.S. News Rankings to validate it.

Has anyone considered that maybe, this year the applicants were just that good? :P

If anything, I think it’s comforting. At least then, if I’m rejected, I’ll know I lost out to a lot of more qualified peers. And if I’m accepted, that much better.

@wharton17
I go to a prep school in Florida.

Yeah it seems like everyone who doesn’t think that they can get into HYPS, but has an SAT of 2250 or higher applies early.

Including 2 students in M&T, there are probably 30-40 kids from my school currently attending Penn.

*According to the school website, college matriculation for students between 2007 – 2011 has Penn at 39.

my god. We have 1. LOL, I’ll be the first indian to go to an ivy if I get in. I want that presitge

thank god I’m not anywhere near your school, I was deathly afraid that you might be in my backyard or something.

@wharton17
Yeah, and out of this year’s applicants pool, half is URM and more than half is legacy :/

w17 - Why is it bad to have closely schools with really qualified applicants?

@GrandPoobah Ah, I wish I could go to Pine Crest! Your school’s college admission stats are CRAZY. I actually know a few people from your school lol

Maybe regional quotas? But I’m not sure how much they matter.

@wharton17 (Indian here also) I think our background puts us at a serious disadvantage…

How do you know that more than half of the applicant pool is legacy? do you have any statistics that support that? I feel like it would only be several hundred

@toomuchsoul
You don’t happen to go to a certain summer camp in Maine?

@classycolleges
The applicant pool at my school.

@GrandPoobah Nope, can’t say I do lol, but I would probably assume I know other people who do? Weird coincidence, right?

Anyway, where the hell is kbolisetty? I still can’t tell if he was joking or not haha
