Penn 2017 ED Discussion Thread

submitted my huntsman ed app a couple days ago. but no contact for interviews yet unfortunately. i suspect it’s because so far no one from melbourne’s gotten into huntsman…

I submitted my app last week, got contacted for an interview a few days ago. I scheduled my interview for Saturday, pending on whether or not my interviewer has power then.

@foxtails: I submitted everything on the 26th. I’m located near one of the large cities on the West coast of the US.

I ended up pushing my interview to next week because I’m horribly sick.

How long does it take penn to receive and reply your commonapp? I submitted mine last Saturday and still no reply.

My daughter applied ED on Nov. 1st and we’re hoping to hear something for an interview soon. She really wants to attend UPenn!

I submitted for ED to CAS Philosophy Politics and Economics yesterday and I just got a call for an interview today.

Anyone else?

No interview info as of yet, kinda freaking out!!

i submit everything by october 11th and haven’t heard anything, which is weird considering i’m from the suburbs of chicago which is a pretty crowded area…guess i’ll just keep waiting

^^^golden: good luck on your interview!

I haven’t received any interview emails either. My app was submitted one week ago.

Has anyone noticed a mistake on his/her application? I found a small error and emailed Penn Admissions about it…but I’m scared that I annoyed them because it’s only a minor error :/

@youaregolden: Good luck!

@mmarilyn11: Huh, that is very weird. Maybe the alum who conducts interviews in your area has been busy?

@foxtails: if it’s a small error it shouldn’t hurt you. I’m sure the strength of the rest of your application will make up for it.

i just received an email for an interview yesterday, and interviewed this morning at a Cafe’ with the nicest, most engaging alum imaginable.

My interview was at the alum’s house. It was pretty relaxed, no questions were really out of the ordinary or anything. I can’t say I had an amazing interview, but the alum basically said that the purpose of the interview was to 1. Give me more info about Penn 2. Make sure that I didn’t lie about everything on my application 3. Make sure that I can string 2 sentences together. I think I accomplished all of these things so I think I’m ok!

@dfree124: I’m sure you did a great job! Who knows how I’ll do–I’m (still) coughing every two seconds. Wonder if I can “string 2 sentences together”… ;)

Though I do have a more serious question. How would the alum know if you were lying on your application?

Does that mean that the alum had already read your app and essays?

i submitted almost a week ago and haven’t received an email for an interview or a portal. did anyone else get their portal info yet?

^^ ^^^

I actually asked the alum at the beginning of the interview if he had read my application to see if he had any background info on me, and he said he had not touched my app. I don’t know how the alum would tell if I’m lying, but maybe they take the info from the interview and what you say on your app and compare… I dunno.

Got my interview info today, super relieved.

@dfree124: ah, that would make sense. Though now that I know the alum knows nothing about me, I think I’ll give her a short resume just so they have a quick way of getting to know me.

Got a call from my alumni interviewer today! Planned the interview for Friday after school. Good luck to everyone else with their interviews.

I was expecting a call from my mom, so I picked up and said “hi mom” .____.

Turned in my application for ED Wharton last night. Are the interviewers generally alums of the school you’re applying to?
