Current students. Do you, and how do you use the fact that you are living in a uni in a big city? Or do you spend the vast majority of the time on campus anyways? (since theres so much to do on campus) - Im wondering how big an advantage being in a big city it is over being in a uni in a town like, lets say New Haven, for example.

how much free time you have dictates how often you can go off campus, but when you have some time to kill / enjoy, being in philadelphia allows tremendous access to all sorts of restaurants, museums, shows; penn also uses its influence to book entire museums / places for events, such as the entire philadelphia museum of art for nso events, or the national constitution center for class events "penn traditions"... of course, being in a big city with a great performing arts scene allows access to music, dancing, acting performances of all kinds!

I go to Chinatown a lot alot. Can't beat the food. Mmmm.

My friend is a freshman there; she says she goes downtown around once a week.

I've been to Center City a handful of times, but I'll probably spend more time there next year.

In terms of a comparison between Philly and New Haven, the difference is not nearly as big as, for example, Philly and Hanover, NH. You can find cultural activities such as theater, museums, and shopping districts in either. Same goes for restaurants. The main difference will be the type and amount of available internships--Philadelphia is a much better prospect if this is a consideration for you.
