-By the time I graduate, I will have logged somewhere between 500-600 hours

Work Experience
-Funded this summer by Cleveland Clinic (3rd ranked hospital in USNews, so its like the Yale of Hospitals) to conduct my own epidemiological research on Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in the Congestive Heart Failure Center, the Clinic published this report
-Worked two summers at a Sports Camp
-I co-founded my own business called KH Video Productions, we have been working for 5 yrs now and do event videography for weddings, bar mitzvahs, and local businesses
-Spanish Tutor over the summer

Teacher Recs: I spent all of junior year building good reports w/ the two teachers I am getting recs from so they should be good
Counselor Rec: She likes me, so I believe it will help me
Essays: My "Why penn essay" is good, I think its something original but who can tell these days; One about working at the Cleveland Clinic, and one about spending a month in Israel w/ a family that couldn't speak english and how we formed a bond that "transcended the barriers of the spoken word". My english teacher says my strength is writing.

Hook: Unfortunately none, I'm just a kid trying to get to college

Schools:
UPenn ED- I LOVE PENN (Reach)
Princeton- To see what kind of aid they toss my way (Reach)
Brown- PLME program (Reach)
Cornell- I like the campus and their Biology cirriculum (Reach)
Northwestern- Had to do a top tier Midwest school (Reach)
WashU- " "
UMich- The public Ivy in my opinion, and it's only 3 hrs from my house (Match)
Ohio State- I needed an in state school, and Case is too close (Match)
Penn State- Both my parents went there, nuf said (Match)

I don't want you guys to think I'm trying too hard or that I'm window dressing my application with a lot of EC's but I can honestly say I devote my life to snd my activities. I have a lot of passions, and I like to spend my free time doing them.

So I would really like to hear your thoughts: Penn students, Penn applicants, or any other procrastinators-Thanks in advance

What are you SAT IIs?

Your SAT scores put you near the bottom 25% for Penn, but your grades and ECs look good. You're correct to call it a reach, but you do have a shot.

IMO, you have close to no shot at Princeton or PLME.

I kinda figured about the Princeton and PLME business but I thought it would be worth a shot. Incase you haven't figured out, my standardized test scores are my achiles heel, so I have good reason for not posting my SAT IIs. Lets just say, I plan on submitting only my ACT

I heard from a friend who got in Penn ED last year and knew many others that applied ED that it was very competitive last year. You're weak stats-wise, but your ECs make up for that. IMO, I think you stand a chance at Princeton and Penn ED.

Oh, and I wouldn't suggest putting NHS or principal's list on your apps. Those are things practically everyone applying to these schools have.

Make sure that if you apply to some of those schools (i.e. Princeton) that you send in your SATII test scores--at least three.

Definitely apply ED to Penn. You will be competitive in the ED pool. You have good stats. Make sure to really focus on your essays (esp. "Why Penn?") Good luck! Hope to see you in Philly!

Hey crashingwaves, what was applying to Penn like for you?

Your ECs are amazing~! The 1 AP Junior year shouldn't hurt you if thats the only one you could take. Apply ED to Penn like me! Hopefully I'll see you next year! Also the Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy paper is a very nice hook, I wish I could of done something of that nature! What major are you setting your sights on?

Yeah, I really want to go to Penn b/c It's always sunny in Philadelphia

heh, The climate in philly is so unpredictable. About 2 weeks ago, it was pouring rain every day, now we've in the triple digits!

I wish I still lived there, we moved away when I was in Kindergarten, but all my family is there, thats one of the reasons why I want to go back to the city, Its like going to school out of state but instate b/c you're with family

im guessing that you are using your act score because it means you dont need satIIs (i dont think ou need SATIIs with the act for penn, but you need them for princeton, but you can take them in january if you dont get in to penn) and its alot better than your 1350 SAT. everything else looks great for you to get in. the sports and music will probably make up for your SAT scores (if they see them). all i have to say about princeton and brown is good luck because you wont have the ED edge you do with penn. if everything goes as planned, you wont have to apply to those schools anyway.

my real interest is Penn, everything else is second in my book, If I get into Penn ED I will be all too happy to withdrawl from every other school, just as soon as I stop doing backflips across the lawn (if I get in)
