Penn International Students Policy

Hi,

I just read in the Penn General Application Guidelines that students studying outside of the U.S is considered "international applicants"

I am a US passport holder and currently am studying in an American international school outside of the US. Am I classified as a international applicant or a domestic applicant?

I am so confused....

For financial-purposes, you are considered a US applicant. During admissions, you might be evaluated by the person responsible for applications from your region. However, in the grand scheme of things, you’re a US applicant.

Thanks!

I thought I had less chance of getting in because I am international.
Thanks for the clarification!

You would have less chance getting in if you were an international student asking for aid.

Hwarang, during the admissions process, the person who would be looking at your application would be the regional officer of your high school region. When it comes to financial aid, you will be considered as a domestic applicant. Your ‘chances’ would not be harmed at all by the fact that you are studying abroad.
