Penn LSM vs. Yale

Hey everyone,

Congrats on all your acceptances and the tickets to the rest of your lives!

I was fortunate enough to have been accepted to my top two choices - Penn's LSM program and Yale, and I'd be happy with either one.

Right now, though, I just can't decide at all where to go D: I'm 50/50 on both, although Penn offers me better FA (I heard that I can appeal to Yale though)

With regards to my future plans, I am not entirely sure yet, but for these past few months, I am inclined to pursue one of the following fields:
- Health care management
- Medicine
- Investment banking/finance
- Business
- Pharmaceuticals/biotech

Any responses or suggestions would help!

In all of those fields, Penn is either better than Yale or equal to it.

While both are excellent overall, my personal recommendation would be LSM. Good luck!

LSM is a really unique program–It’s bound to have better job opportunities following graduation, because you’d be one of the few people graduating from Penn with that. It would be more difficult distinguishing yourself at Yale. 25 people in the ENTIRE country get into LSM per year-much more get into Yale. Congrats on your acceptance!

As a current freshman within the LSM program, I can promise you that all of your career and professional interests align with practically all others in LSM! You would definitely fit right in! After all, LSM is set-up for students interested in:

Health care management

Medicine

Investment banking/finance

Business

Pharmaceuticals/biotech

(I hope this list looks familiar, because it’s your list!).

Please feel free to message me if you have more questions about the LSM program; I’d be more than happy to help.

If you are set on pre-med, I would go to Yale. Otherwise, especially for anything business related, LSM is the obvious choice. Since you seem to be leaning business, I would stick with LSM.

hardworking21: I can’t PM you because of my lack of posts, but I will be at LSM Preview Day on Monday. If you’re there, I’d definitely love to “bombard” you with questions ahah (:

iamanapp and breaker746: my concern with LSM is that everyone at wharton will be wanting to go into business/ib, etc. so it seems to me it’s ultra competitive. yale, on the other hand, has people with a broad range of interests, so if I were to do something business-related there, I feel it wouldn’t be as cut-throat, plus there’s a lot of diversity.

what are your thoughts on this? just curious!
