my essay was actually shorter.

has anyone, besides me, still not received a letter that applied for the original deadline?

@raechelli I had trouble fitting everything in too, but eventually I deleted some things that seemed out of place and I kept everything terse. You should ask someone to help you edit your essay if you are having a hard time deciding what to cut out.

My son was accepted. His essay was under 300 words, I believe.

Is this 400 combined for both questions or 400 each?

koken-- combined

johnconnor-- Where are you from?

I wouldn’t stress too much over the size of the essay. If you go a few words over the limit then I don’t believe it’s a big deal, they just say that so you don’t put your whole life story on there. But I mean don’t go like 600 or 700 words when they are asking for 400. I say 440 at the most, if you need to finish a thought in the essay. I don’t think they count each word to see if meet the word limit, only if it comes into question.

This program sounds very interesting. Could anyone comment on the selectivity of SAAST? I know it’s way too late to apply now (even though they say they are still accepting applications based on rolling admissions) but I’m thinking about doing this next year.

@universityquest: South Korea

Does anyone know if they send an email to confirm that they’ve received your deposit and everything?

yeah they send you an e-mail telling you if they receive all of your materials or if there is come items that they did not receive that they need in order for your application to be complete.

Sorry, I meant deposit and paper work for confirming your place in the program.

I don’t think anyone has yet, cause I know that last year all of the info in paperwork and directions on deposits were posted on the website. But I don’t think they have posted them up yet. Anyone else got in?

o nvm they do have the forms on the website already.

@johnconnor Do you live in South Korea or are you from there, but currently resides in the states?

@floppydisk: I’m a South Korean citizen currently living in South Korea.

@johnconnor That’s cool! I wonder how many international students are attending.

Hey guys! So I mailed in all my stuff 3 weeks ago, but they ended up sending me an email on May 6th (a week and three days after sending in my stuff) saying that they accepted my application and would be reviewing it shortly. I’m pretty impatient to see if I got in or not, and I really want to call them to see if I got in or not. Should I wait until the three weeks starting from May 6th are up, or should I call them tomorrow?

yeah I would wait until the three weeks are up, unless you need to know right away to respond to another summer program or summer plans. Starting from May6 for the three weeks would end you on May 27 which is next Wednesday. Not to long to wait.

I sent in the deposit and forms last week. Has anyone sent in their deposit?

@elec I did.
