I'm not much of a party person. It's not like I can't handle it if I have to go, but I would rather do something else than drink and try to make conversation with a bunch of drunk people. Is the party atmosphere HUGE at Penn State? I know it's known as a party school, but are there other things to do?

no partying is all there is…

just to point out that is sarcasm.

I mean, it doesn’t get a distinction as a party school for no reason. But realize, there’s nearly 40,000 students at Penn State. You can find something to do with people you like, and if you can’t, you’re probably not trying hard enough.

It is a party school and if that party culture is not in keeping with your desires for a school, I strongly recommend you consider another university.

This question comes up every year and the answer is quite simple. If you want to go to Penn State to party - you’ll find plenty of opportunities to do so. If you don’t want to party - not a problem. There are plenty of things to do that don’t involve partying. My son is not a party-type and he loves Penn State.
