Penn State Greater Allegheny Honors Program vs Schreyer Honors College

I got accepted into the greater allegheny honors program and was wondering how prestigious it is. I know schreyer is top notch and am wondering how the honors program compares to the schreyer college. If possible does anyone know how selective greater allegheny honors program is? Thank you very much

I can’t answer your question specifically, but Greater Allegheny is one of Penn State’s commonwealth campuses that is more like a commuter college with a community college feel. They accept more than 80% of their applicants. That being said, I can’t answer how selective the honors college is within that, however, I would guess its for their top applicants, so congrats!

Greater Allegheny has some really innovative things going on, so it might depend on your major. Also, commonwealth campuses are less expensive, so that’s a plus.

@katiekatiekatie
Did you get into Schreyer at UP and Greater Allegheny Honors?
Where have you been admitted exactly?

Penn State Schreyer at UP is one of the best Honors Colleges in the nation.
Greater Allegheny is closer to a community college but it has dorms and an honors program for its best students. It’s not remotely comparable to Schreyer at UP but it DOES offer benefits compared to being a regular student at Greater Allegheny.
