My original plans were to transfer to Pennstate and attempt to get into Schreyer’s. However, due to Pennstate’s 2+2 program I won’t be able to apply until my second year, so I don’t plan on transferring to Pennstate anymore because I would like to transfer out as fast as possible. Now I’m planning on transferring to UPitt and try to get into it’s honors college.
How good is UPitt’s honor’s college? I heard it wasn’t as good as Schreyer’s from students already at Pitt.
It’s not the same and I’m not sure the perks are the same, but mostly the selection process is very different so that they don’t compete against each other:
at Pitt, honors students are primarily selected on stats - you need high test scores and a high GPA (other factors are important, too).
For Shreyer, neither GPA nor test scores are taken into account, the only factors are curriculum rigor, essays, and recommendations (EC’s are also taken into account but are of less import).
Just curious about the premise of your question:
Are you saying you didn’t get into Shreyer, either at a branch campus or at UP, and didn’t get into Paterno Fellows either? If so, why do you think you can get into Pitt’s Honors College?
