I was accepted to Penn State main campus this past fall. On my application, I said that I was interested in studying during one of the summer sessions. I received an email the other day about registration for LEAP, the summer program for incoming freshman. I noticed that the registration starts on February 16th and that the offer of admission must be accepted in order to register. Penn State is my first choice at this point, and I would love to get a head start with LEAP, but I am not ready to accept my offer this early when I am still waiting to hear back from other colleges. I am very confused by the whole situation. Does anyone know how this works? Is there a way to register for LEAP even if I have not accepted my offer yet?
Looks like were in the same boat.
LEAP is great, but not at all essential to an epic Penn State UP experience! I would wait for your decisions to come in, and if Penn State still is the best choice (you should choose it, it’s amazing), then put in your acceptance by April 1 and try to register for LEAP then…if you don’t get into LEAP, enjoy the rest of your summer and be grateful you aren’t sweating in those non-air conditioned dorms until August move in!
(And while it is still hot in late August, the nights are getting cooler, so you can get some relief with fans)
Move in day in August is full of excitement and energy, the vast majority of fall admits move in then…you will not be in any way behind or lost or missing out on anything if you skip LEAP altogether.
