Penn state out of state

I need your help and advice!!!

My daughter is a good (not great) student who currently is undecided on a major though she is leaning towards communications (film editing). She has been admitted to a number of good New York State Schools including Oneonta, New Paltz and Albany. She has also recently been accepted to Penn State (University Park).

The problem is that we live in NY so Penn State will cost double. Is it worth it? Why?

Any thoughts, guidance, opinions or experience would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you!!

I am in the same situation with my son. He has been accepted to Umass (with a scholorship) and JMU both are significantly less costly. The bottom line is that I truly believe that the job market and number of Penn State alumni across the US and World, makes going there worth the extra money.

I am out state from VA. From what I have observed, I believe that it’s worth it. I think it will be a lot easier to find a job after my 4 years are over if I have a PSU degree compared to a VT degree, especially if I don’t work in the Virginia area.

Just my opinion. I’m speaking from an Engineering perspective so I don’t know how beneficial that will be.
