My daughter is a good (not great) student who currently is undecided on a major though she is leaning towards communications (film editing). She has been admitted to a number of good SUNY Schools including Oneonta, New Paltz and Albany. She has also recently been accepted to Penn State (University Park).

The problem is that we live in NY so Penn State will cost double. Is it worth it? Why?

Any thoughts, guidance, opinions or experience would be greatly appreciated!!!

I think Stony Brooks medical and sciences programs would be the only thing even close to PSU, so if she doesn’t plan on going to Grad school go to PSU.

New York should redo there system and make it like California’s.

I don’t think Penn State it’s worth double the cost…especially considering her undecided major. The NYS schools that she has received offers from are all terrific. What does your daughter think about it? I ask because I think a key aspect to choosing a college is fit.

My D is very happy with her SUNY acceptances. Particularly Oneonta and New Paltz. I guess that the issue is really coming from me as I want her to enjoy her college experience and receive a great education. I am trying to understand if the education and experience at Penn state will be so much better to justify paying double!!
