Penn State's New B.F.A. in Acting

During the 2015-2016 school year Penn State (University Park) offered a B.F.A. in Acting for the very first time. Admission is by audition only. As of 5-17-2015, there are 11 students in the Class of 2020 who will enter as freshmen in August 2016. Since this new program is not yet widely known, for the time being there are far fewer applicants for this program than for the corresponding Musical Theater B.F.A. program, which has been well established as a leading MT program for years. Check out the Theatre Dept. pages and the college catalog for more information.

Good deal. I have a D at Penn State (completely different major, unrelated to acting) and as a parent I am impressed with the school. We have actually attended a couple of performances there – one a play done by the department, another a community production of Gypsy which included several current students. Both were quite good.I can’t speak to the program any more than that, except that I pay attention to cast alma maters when I read Playbills and Penn State is well represented.
