I posted this on the Brown section of CC, asking if my leaning towards Penn made sense and someone said that she heard that people at Penn are pretty competitive with grades.

But my impression from seeing all the campuses is that while Brown is super laid back, Princeton is uptight and Penn is the perfect combination of calmness and community.

I don't know but I fell in love with the oppotunities, with the city within the city and it seems communal and supportive to me and not cut-throat. I feel like Penn wants you to think of the moment and do well in the present, while planning always for the future.

Can someone please confirm before I let my other colleges know.

I mean, I think you will certainly find a good level of competitiveness at any of the ivies…but I don’t get the impression that penn is like overboard or anything…

I personally don’t know much about princeton, but my best friend is choosing dartmouth over princeton because he thinks the social scene at princeton leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t know if that’s important to you though

I don’t know tons about brown either, but I am personally not into their open curric though… it definitely depends on the person though

hmmmm other reasons why I am choosing penn…
-it’s urban, but not like nyu-columbia-GW-urban

-it’s research based

-it’s social, but it’s not like the dartmouth-duke omg level of drinking.

-I <3 phily

-I am personally an anti-LAC person and penn obviously offers more than just that type of education. “leges sine moribus vanae,” real world apps, etc. Although I do think there is a place here for the lac types
