Fantastic news! Let's drink a toast to dear old Penn when that happens!

Just wondering: does USNews use data from this year or last year? Currently, for the 2005 issue, it looks like they're using data from 2003.

I gaurantee you that Princeton's student body is much better across the board than Upenns. In particular, i find it funny that LegendofMax praises HYP (with P being Penn) when he couldnt get in to Princeton ED. If princeton is just soooo bad buddy, what happend?

I'm not dissing Princeton; just because I didn't get into Princeton doesn't mean I dislike it (it's the only school that canned me anyway). I love Princeton and Penn both and will be going to both schools quite often (attending Penn but visiting Princeton for my girlfriend). I love Yale as well, got accepted there, but didn't attend. (I don't like Harvard though). Despite my personal opinions, I know they are great schools. I don't think there's anything wrong with HYP^2 :P It's kinda cool looking... although it would be cool to somehow integrate all the ivies into one big acronym but there aren't enough vowel-starting schools to work with, really...

I love how 4feynman comes in trying to be an ******* and legend responds maturely and makes him look like a complete fool.

While I appreciate the compliment pertaining to maturity, I'd rather not start a flame war here. I think it was just a communication error, that's all.

I don't get why people from other schools feel the need to come on Penn's board to bash us and the university...

Why don't you spend your time promoting your own school on your own boards?

I'm guessing a mixture of insecurity and boredom

is this high yeild really badd, good, or doesn't matter for those of us applying ED this year! I hope it wont matter or is good for ED canadates but i imagine it will be bad for RD. Right- cuz if thy wont accept as many since they have about 100 too many kids this yr.

I can tell you that I am "much better across the board." Than all three students from my school going to Princeton next year. All 3 are stuck up, pompous kids who think they are a lot brighter than they really are(hey, if thats what Princeton wants, then they deserve them-sounds like self flatter, but its true) But please don't make statements like that, its not cool.

I was attacked by a paroxysm of rage momentarily after reading a lot of princeton bashing from another venue. I hold Wharton and other Penn affiliates in very high regard. In fact, I'd love to go to Penn grad school If I am fortunate enough to gain acceptance. I wish you all the best, I'm sure you will really enjoy the school. UPenn is definitely a school on the move and has probably progressed the most of any school in the world in recent years. There is no reason why this ascension should be discontinued in the near future. To Marcus and the others, I'm sorry that I acted so foolishly

DPennFL, the yield doesn't matter at all for ED. Penn takes around half of the class via ED, and that has a near 100% yield. They may admit a smaller number of RDs next year to make sure they don't over enroll.

4feynman: Yeah how DO you know Marcus' name?

Props to 4feynman for apologizing. That takes big balls (or, uh, ovaries?)

I don't really see how anyone could really bash Princeton. If they don't like the general elitism and cliquishness and general East Coast-ness of Princeton's student body, then heaven help them when they get to the real world and it turns out to be just like that.

If we Ivy people were REALLY smart, we'd stop bashing each other and stick to bashing non-Ivy competitors.

i dunnooo, man. that's not nice.. we should stick to the "picking on someone [our] own (relative) size"

Well you have Penn State to keep you busy.

The fact is, Princeton and Penn are very different experiences. I, like legend, love both schools, and plan on traveling to Princeton quite often to visit everyone there. I was never mad that Princeton didn't take me- the people who get in are all mind-boggling amazing. Also, in recent months my career path focus has kinda blurred. Altho Princeton may have many better individual deparments, as far as flexibility of getting dual degrees and minors, Penn trounces Princeton by far. As you can see, both schools have attractions.

Why bash Penn State? Everyone who knows the difference between the two knows Penn is better, so why bother?

oh and zante- he must have been reading some of the old stuff on the Princeton forum. If you remember, we EDers mentioned each other's names a lot.

i think on this website we get so caught up with the minutia of college rankings etc. that we fail to realize that they are all on the same academic level. True, many believe Harvard to have more 'prestige' than Penn, but that's due in fact to a sort of popularity contest. They are all truly good schools, so it's not surprising to me that people are catching on and Penn's yield is going up.
