Penn Yield Reaches Record High

"Though Penn’s incoming freshman class in many ways resembles past years’, a record-setting matriculation rate, among several other differences, sets it apart from the pack.

Of the 20.8 percent of applicants admitted to Penn – down from 21.2 percent last year – 66 percent have chosen to attend, the highest student yield in the University’s history. "

Penn yield: 66%
– Wharton: 83.7%
– Nursing: 82.1%
– College: 65.7%
– Engineering: 52.8%

Harvard: 78.5%
Yale: 72%
Princeton: 67.6%

oh man. Princeton's is kinda low.
...go wharton!

Indeed. Wharton pride is evident.

wow, penn's yield is madddddd high!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to Penn and all the ppl responsibile for its recent success. :)!!

HYP is becoming Harvard Yale Penn

what confuses me is that Columbia has a yield rate at around 40 percent and Penn is at 60 percent. Yo no comprendo....?

Columbia gets a lot of talented students that apply just for the name, since it has a really prestigious name. But on the flipside, Columbia has 2 extremes about it that people either love or hate: New York City, and the CORE!

Columbia's yield is typically around 60-61% not 40%. I do not have 2009 numbers, though.

just curious, w. out US NEWS, would have Penn become sooo much more popular i mean, i feeel like all of the kids on this board are soo driven by US news, it is not even funny...

CC users don't represent the sample of any school. ;)

collegekid, the answer is, i doubt it, but I'm not complaining. Rankings are brilliant marketing

gotta love it.

LOL I think I like HYP = Harvard Yale Penn, although if you want to include Princeton it should be HYP^2 hehe

But it's not just US NEWS rankings. There are many other ranking sources that all have Penn within the Top 10.It's funny, everyone says that rankings shouldn't matter, but we all seem to be addicted to 'em. I will tell you that companies study/watch those rankings more than we do.

"LOL I think I like HYP = Harvard Yale Penn, although if you want to include Princeton it should be HYP^2 hehe"

Lol :)

My prediction: Penn will tie for 3rd place with Yale in the 2006 US News rankings...Harvard Yale Penn Princeton indeed...

I love how so many people that used to bash Penn are starting to realize its greatness... they get so tonguetied

saintofme a friend of mine has a relative that works at USNEWS and she mentioned that it was very likely that penn would be moving up to 3rd tied with yale.

Yeah baby ;)

i hope so. that'd be sweet. and very different from what people have had me believe during my HS years, which is that penn is a "second-rate" ivy.
