Pennstate/Jefferson ranks better and S likes the family atmosphere of Pennstate/Jefferson. However, he also would be happy at Drexel/Drexel.
He is not particularly strong in math and physics (did not do well in AP calculus BC exam in junior year and is currently struggling with AP physics C).
For those of you already in the Pennstate/Jefferson program, is the calculus 2 required by Pennstate prog more difficult than calculus BC ? Are the three semesters of calculus-based physics exam more difficult than the physics C? If he AP out of introductory physics, does he have to take a higher level of physics?
For those of you already in the Drexel/Drexel program, how difficult are the Mathematics for the Life Sciences and Scientific Data Analysis I&II required by the biology major ? How difficult are the physics courses? If he AP out of introductory physics, does he have to take a higher level of physcis?
Any other comments on both of these programs are also much appreciated. Thanks.

For Penn State, one needs 5s on the Physics exams to test out of the required physics classes and a 4 or 5 for the calculus exams to test out of those courses. That means he wouldn’t have to take the courses altogether. I know for normal undergraduate at Drexel, 4s let one skip the intro and 5s let one skip the class, but I’m not sure how it is for the program. Regardless the Penn State/ Jeff option is probably the best because it is shorter and has a better med school. I don’t think that difficulty of certain courses should be the deciding factor for your son because as long as he maintains a minimum GPA requirement (which most do not have a problem with), he’ll be fine. Anyways, good luck with your decision.

This is amazingly an easy decision, believe it or not, In comparing Jefferson Medical College vs. Drexel, Jefferson Medical College ranks much better (#60 in research vs. #91, #63 in primary care vs. unranked) and is the better school. So you should go with Penn State/Jefferson Medical College. Congrats! That’s a very hard one to get into esp. in a 6 year program with a relatively prestigious medical school.
