People at your HS applying to the same schools as you

“Hooray, maybe we both get in and end up going to the same school.”

I mean, it depends on the person, but that’s my general response.

How do I feel … mmm … I guess I feel intimidated. Like, sure, I may be more qualified that person a and person b, but what about person c? Does person c have a better chance than me?

Yet, there is always that little person who thinks they can get in even though they have zero percent chance (in my eyes), not to sound arrogant or anything, but you guys should know how that goes. If he or she got in, and I didn’t, I think I would be upset.

It is just frustrated to know that there is competition. It is always a way to out beat everybody. The topic of college comes up a lot, and I guess I like it but it is just intimidating. I try to not think about the other ppl I’m competing with, rather, just trying my best. I’ve given it my all these past 4 years, so I’m just gonna give it my all and they will too, and plus, admission process is basically a black box. Nobody knows what is going to happen.

I guess if I get accepted, I won’t tell anybody and just sorta figure out if other ppl did. I guess that is how it’d go down.

I don’t really care.

In regards to the top people in my class, we all have different top choices. Sure, there’s some overlap (Ivies), but what is worrying going to do?

One other thing I thought of:

At least I haven’t found any URMs applying to the same schools as me. That would **** me off.

Actually you know what, I just realized something.

Our stats are basically the same, some people have better GPA than me, I have better ACT score than some of them, or the other way around, anyways the point is, we’re comparable with each other so if I just hold out and not worry about this everything will be fine and the schools will accept whoever the hell they want.

I might sound stupid, but what is a URM?

Underrepresented minority.

Oh, I see…

Not a lot at my school. I actually am one. But I do work hard and I’m not applying to Harvard (or Yale or…yeah). Although my mom wants me to because apparently they offer good aid. But there’s another girl applying and she’s pretty much perfect in every way, so…

I don’t worry about this. Everyone in my school goes either in-state (NC)/cc/or doesn’t go at all. The last few years there has been one person each year to go oos. I am applying only oos, therefore I will have no competition from my school :]

why is that annoying? just because you have competition doesn’t mean you have to get mad about it.

I get excited. It’s nice to see a familiar face when you get to college. This is how it works at my school:

If you’re really smart or have the money, you go to UGA, Georgia Tech, Emory, or GSU. If you’re moderately smart, you go to Georgia Southern or AASU. If you don’t have high grades, lack of money, or personal problems come up, you go to AASU, SSU, or the community college close to my area. If your grades suck, you go into the military and have thoughts to attend Westpoint.

80% of my school’s population seems to stay in Georgia, so you won’t have much competition at my school if you plan to attend an out-of-state school.

^how can they go to west point if their grades suck?

Keyword: thoughts. I never said they actually got into the school. LOL
