Applying to the same schools...ANNOYING!

<p>Is anyone at your school applying to the same schools are you?</p>

<p>It is really annoying....so i spend lots of time looking around for schools that I really ACTUALLY like.<br>
and then a month ago or so this girl was asking about where I am applying and I told her the schools that I really liked....some of them are kinda what I would consider really good schools....but more under the radar.
then the today she came up to me and was telling me about all the places she was going to apply
AND!!
low and behold....half the schools i said i was applying....it is really irritating to me...because she has higher test scores than I and she is ranked a bit higher too. Granted she has taken the SAT twice and already taken 3 subject tests and the ACT twice and is taking the SAT one more time and another 2 subject tests. On top of this....she has been going to private tutoring sessions for like 6 months now so her ACT got up to a 35...and she is STIL L TAKING the sat again.

she is applying to 19 schools...talk about shot
gun approach...i wish she would just leave my schools alone and go other places....i dnt want her to take up a spot at somewhere I ACTUALLY want to be.</p>

<p>i should have just kept my mouth shut and never blabed about where i liked...them maybe there wouldnt be competition. </p>

<p>Now i not only have to compete with the other 17,000 people applying to schools....but also someone at my own school who on paper looks better than I do.
I am a good student...i have gotten a couple of Bs before and my SAT are a 2100...i mean far from perfect I know...but my strength really arent on 4 hours that one saturday morning. and i just feel as though this whole system is flawed. just because someone missed 4 less questions than me makes them more qualified somewhere? i mean seriously...the difference between a 2100 and a 2300 is like maybe 5 or 6 questions.
a 2100 is only missing like 10-16 total...i missed 13 total i think.</p>

<p>sorry about the rant here...i just feel annoyed that someone applies to a billion schools just to see which is the best one they can get into is. and that is what it looks like she is doing...she doesn't even know what she wants to study</p>

<p>I would hate that! All my classmates are applying to big dumb schools so I don't have that prob though</p>

<p>I'm with you on this one, zfox. I think your emotions are justified.</p>

<p>But you cannot worry about water under the bridge, too late for this one person. But there are more in your school, yes? I think you know the lesson to be learned here.</p>
