Pepperdine VS. Loyola VS. Southern Methodist VS. SDSU

We are trying to decide between these colleges for my son for political science.
All three schools have given merit but not a lot and cost is a factor so SDSU seems like a good choice.

You have - overly Christian (Pepperdine) vs. LMU and SMU - also religious. All are smaller - and a big state school.

What is your hot button? If it’s cost, then go to SDSU.

Poli Sci as a major - it’s not going to matter.

Finance should always matter, than fit.

Have you been to all? What’s he feel?

By overly you mean warm, compassionate & service-oriented? Friendly environment that encourages open and intelligent discussion? Filled with gen z’ers in a welcoming relaxed Malibu culture? Within an organization that has remained authentic to its roots…?

Not a political discussion point- meaning at most religious schools today, they are “funded” by but you will have Hillels, etc. and there is a minimal or no religious requirement.

Pepperdine has a course and a religious service attendance requirement.

So when you show an LMU, SMU and SDSU - yes two are religion but they are not close to the same level as Pepperdine - which lives its religion.

The student should know that up front.

It’s not a good or not good. It’s a heads up.

There was a another thread last night asking about these schools and LMU was in the mix, also the same major. I would try to search for it because there was a lot of information in that thread. I don’t know how to link threads on here as I’m still learning how to use this platform.

It’s the connotation(s) attached to the word “overly” that may bring an inaccurate perspective to a person looking at the school (without much context to your original comment). Otherwise agree that one should know it is a Christian school (that is open to all who are open to it). :+1:

The connotation that he cannot afford his education is blasphemous. We live in america not china or nicaragua kr jpan. Or korea.

Closing thread as duplicate for the one linked above.
