I'm going to Pepperdine and finally had to flip a coin (not even kidding) to choose between Pep and USC. The campus at USC was not up-to par for me, and my hesitance with Pepperdine was that I am not the most religious person and I love to have fun. However, I definitely got a better vibe from Pepperdine! I know that USC is technically "ranked a better school," but I don't think I'm crazy for choosing pep over it, am i? What are some legitimate pros as to why this is a better school in all of your opinions...?

Gorgeous campus, great community feel, amazing study abroad programs, awesome dorms, challenging academic programs, Malibu…lol :)

This a joke? Pepperdine’s campus is beautiful, but USC is…USC! Academically, its ranked much higher, has way better programs, much better employment outlooks. And you’re not even religious.

Keep in mind, there’s nothing to do at Pepperdine if you’re not in a Frat/Soror and if you don’t have a car. USC has so much stuff do in campus, there’s always something going on. And its within walking/biking distance to markets.

I don’t know why you didn’t like USC’s campus, I loved it when I first saw it; it gave me a feeling of a place where i could learn and have fun.

That being said, Pepperdine is a good backup school. If I did not get into USC, Pepperdine would be a runner up.

I just withdrew from Pepperdine and choosing USC!!
it is just an overall better choice, school spirit, if you want religion u can get it, amazing alumni, great programs, just OVERALL MORE KNOWN!

Don’t deny USC is excellant school-current ranking #23 USNWR vs Pepperdine #53. It is mentioned if you don’t join fraternity/have a car. What if you do? 2 points-one I rarely see mentioned when choosing. The other I never have seen mentioned. #1-many studies done that show top students essentially do well at either of their top picks. For example, you were accepted at USC and Pepperdine-odds are you will do well with either one. A few years back the school with the most Fortune 500 CEO’s was A-Yale B-Harvard C-USC D-Stanford E-Wisconsin. Wisconsin!!

The one I never see mentioned-you will spent 4 years at your university (normally). If you live to be 80 years old, that is 5% of your life. If, heaven forbid, you only live to 50, that is 8% of your life. If you can spend a fair amount of your years here on earth in Malibu-what is that worth. Malibu is one of the most expensive places on earth for a reason-location, location, location.

If the debate was Harvard it would be more of a no brainer. Great city, great school. How many USC graduates end up living in the USC area? Quality of life love.

dude you must be nutz. i felt like USC had a much better vibe than pepperdine. I admit pep has a beautiful campus, but so does USC. maybe you saw usc when the weather was bad? To me i just felt like i wouldnt have fitted in at pepperdine, im not very conservative or religious, and there is absolutely nothing to do in malibu except beach which will become boring after a month. All the frat and sorority people go clubbing in hollywood anyway which is closer to USC so its not like they throw parties just off campus.

Is pepperdine really as conservative and preppy as everyone says?
