What, "typically", is Dartmouth looking for in an applicant? From the info session I did at Columbia, for example, a lot of their focus seemed to be the ability to bring different perspectives into the new class and involvement within the community. What about Dartmouth? Any help would be appreciated!

Essentially every top tier school is looking for students with different perspectives and such, for good reason. But that doesn’t mean you should try to fit a particular mold that you think will make you a “perfect match.” Do well in high school, convey who YOU are as best as you can in your application, and hope that you’re “that” student with the perspective they want. That’s really all you can do.

aurelie426: What does the Dartmouth website say? What about that info is unclear or incomplete? Go with the primary source.

^ Could you provide a link to the primary source? I often find the Dartmouth website hard to navigate, and many people might find it useful to have the link at their fingertips (mouse tips?).

@T26E4- it’s not that the info is unclear or incomplete, it’s that I couldn’t really find the info I’m looking for (that is, a particular “mold” of Dartmouth students)

@AboutTheSame, I agree with you about the difficulty of navigating the Dartmouth site, but I’ve found all college websites to be about the same.

That wasn’t the impression we got from the Columbia info session at all. I think it may really depend who is doing it.
