Sorry to hear that your SSAT scores were not quite up to your standard. I would say a straight A (4.0 GPA) with strong passion toward academic challenges would have received much higher scores than yours.

While many people (myself included) seem to think that this ‘chance me’ section could actually tell you very little about the chance the way you want it, I also believe that most people would try to give you a feel with their sincere advice based on direct/indirect experience in the past.

My feel is that, like many here said, your current SSAT scores will likely be a minus when applying to the two most selective BS in the country. The scores don’t necessarily have to be upper 90% to get there but 30% something may have admission people worry about the academic competence of an applicant, unless you improve the scores dramatically or provide them with anther strong counter-evidence.

I don’t want to generalize your situation by saying that your SSAT scores will not get you there, because again SSAT is just one factor and you seem to have many many positives on your resume. However, I strongly recommend you to take the test again and hopefully improve the scores up to at least 80% +. It is pretty obvious to me that your chance with 80%+ will be much bigger than with 30% +, given all the other factors equal.

You showed a strong desire to face and excel at academic challenges at the top schools.
Show it on your essay and during interviews. If I were you, I would definitely visit the schools and have an interview with admissions officer instead of AI, because it gives you a better chance to deliver yourself.

At this point of time, focus mostly on SSAT prep. Think about why your previous scores were low. You can take the January test and still apply on time. Maybe try SSAT prep institute for about a month? Also, widen your school search. I understand your focus on Exeter is big. But there are also so many good schools that would help you fulfill your dream.

I apologize if I just repeated what others have already said. Keep us posted and all the best!
