Personal Essay

<p>I have just finished writing my personal essay. Would anyone be willing to read it and give me some suggestions? (only current Columbia students please!)</p>

<p>Also, I am planning on writing both my EC and "Why Columbia" essays on research (this is what I really what to do while at Columbia). I am currently working with a neuroscience professor at Lehigh University on a research project dealing with neuropeptides and brain aging. However, as I am Asian, will this actually hurt my chances of getting into Columbia? Should I write it on something else instead?</p>

Major: Biology, Biochemistry, or Neuroscience
Career goal: MD/PhD
High School: public school in Pennsylvania</p>

<p>GPA: 4.9231
Class Rank: 4/814 (this because 3 people are tied for 1st with a 5.0)</p>

<p>SAT: will take in November, should be at least 2300
SAT II: US History (77), Math II (800), Chinese (770)</p>

<p>APs
Sophomore: AP US History, AP Calc AB, AP Psych, AP Stat (no one else at my school has ever taken more than 3 AP classes sophomore year)
Junior: AP World History, AP Econ, AP Chem, AP Calc BC</p>

<p>ECs
NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Math League, Soci</p>

<p>most current columbia students don’t response to essay help threads in the columbia forum, try the essay forum. but IMO, you probably won’t have enough space for write about research in EC and Why Columbia short essays</p>
