One of my friend's colleges asks for an essay about a personal idiosyncrasy. It got me thinking - I guess we all have little quirks that we don't really even think about. What are YOUR little quirks? What idiosyncrasy would YOU write about?

I’m pretty much always humming or singing, even though I don’t like music all that much. I used to get in trouble for it in elementary school. One time some little kid asked me if I took humming lessons. :p

I’m always doing some sort of choreography while in my seat as time goes by and I crack my knuckles and play with my fingers a lot.

I have a lot of weird quirks. My sister (who is the most popular girl in her freshman year class) thinks I am the biggest weirdo. But we are also super tight. :P

I have synesthesia, I write sonnets when I can’t sleep, I make stories out of pictures to pass the time…I don’t know, I’m weird. And clusters of holes make me gag, but I don’t know why.

I play the drums, so I’m always tapping my hands or feet to some odd random beat. I didn’t even notice until someone told me to stop one time after it apparently got too annoying.

I tend to hum a lot, and I say my thoughts out loud sometimes without noticing. I also write philosophical essays best when I’m sleep-deprived, and I sometimes think of random things and cringe.

I’m a strange person.

The texture of some paper really messes with me. It sends chills down my spine and I have to lick my fingers and scratch it to stop the feeling. Don’t ask… :P

I’m scared of most invertebrates.

I have a habit of using unusual or out-of-place big words when I speak. I’ll be talking about my latest mall trip or a celebrity I think is hot, and all of a sudden, “amalgam” or “physiognomy” will come up.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using CC

I cannot eat or drink out of some cups, plates, etc. Some just look dirty or nasty to me even when they are clean.

I get the same thing! I’ve never met anyone else who’s like this except my mom.

I also organize my food. it’s a bit strange. if I’m having, say, mashed potatoes, chicken, and peas, I’ll try to proportion everything so I get the right amount of each in each bite. I didn’t really notice I was doing it until I get older

EDIT: I just looked up the holes thing. turns out its called trypophobia (don’t look it up if you think you have it, a bunch of pics come up), not officially recognized, but IMO, it should be

OH MY GOD. DO NOT LOOK UP THE PHOTOS. I have trypophobia now. !!!

I get words stuck in my head when I don’t know what they mean, and I can’t stop thinking about them and trying to guess what they mean.
The latest one is “insouciance.” It bothers me and I’ll have to go Google it now.

I can’t rub carpet for long with my palm before it starts to feel uncomfortable.

OH NO! I looked up Trypophobia and I cant sleep! Somebody help me!!

^I know, that was just creepy. I don’t have an issue with holes but…those were just weird holes.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure anyone would get freaked out by the images of trypophobia on the Internet. xD

I’m not sure I would call mine trypophobia though, because I’m not afraid of them. I just feel really sick when I see them…they bother me, like a huge flesh wound or something. I can’t make macaroni anymore because when I microwaved it the noodles were sticking straight up when I took them out of the microwave. I have no idea why, but it bothered me so much I couldn’t sleep or eat for a while.

Up until 5th grade I had this fear that everyone in the world could read my mind but weren’t telling me. I used to ask my teachers what I was thinking and if they didn’t know, I’d assume they were lying. I sometimes still get it when I’m thinking bad thoughts but then I remember that it is just in my head…or is it? ;o

I sing whenever I swim or cycle, people must think I’m crazy when they see me.

I would also like to add a warning against googling trypophobia. It’s just gross clusters of holes, but it will make most people feels sick. Particularly the ones on google images which are in skin.

okay, so maybe no one should look up trypophobia then xD it’s strange though, there have been a lot of times when I’ve gotten freaked out by it, but everyone else around me was perfectly fine. like one time when my mom bought these crunchy fishsticks. I just want to cry and scream and run. it’s really different from normal fear where I feel more paralyzed

I never knew that being creeped out by holes was a thing, I thought I was just weird. Whenever I see a bunch of holes I have to scratch my arms. Also, I associate colors with different thoughts, so I guess I kind of think in colors.
