Personal Property Insurance for dorm rooms?

<p>We’ve had CSI for 2 years for DS, but thankfully, haven’t had to make any claims yet. We did have to pay extra to “schedule” his musical instrument for replacement value. </p>

<p>Our regular homeowners insurance agent suggested we might want a renter’s policy that includes liability insurance when DS moves into an apartment next year, but it’s quite a bit more expensive that the CSI we have now. When I called CSI for a quote, the representative told me they might be adding liability insurance to their offerings, and to call back this summer.</p>

<p>Thanks for the help, we will definitely be purchasing this. SInce we are also purchasing laptops, through the school, does this mean that we would not need to purchasethe extended warrantee package as well?</p>

<p>Read the fine print on the extended warranty. Typically the extended warranty will cover problems WITHIN the actual machine, such as a defective motherboard or circuitry. Dorm insurance will cover what happens TO the machine, such as being stepped on or having beverages spilled on it.</p>
