For the common app I was going to choose the 1st topic..a story central to yourself. I don't want it to seem sappy and sympathetic but I was debating whether to write about going through life in a single parent household and how it has inspired me to so better for myself and my mom. Or, dealing with the trials and tribulations of having erbs palsy(a nerve disorder that affects the arm and shoulder development)

Which would YOU rather hear about??? Please help!

You could write a powerful essay about each topic; you could also write a terrible essay about each topic. You need to write a first draft on each topic before you can even begin to ask yourself which would be better. Start writing!

Gibby makes a good point. You definitely should write both. It may seem futile to spend time on both, but you’d be surprised. It really just comes down to how you write each one.

But I will say the erbs palsy would be a more unique topic, as I’ve heard of several single-parent household essays; however, it really doesn’t matter the topic, just how you write it.
