Hi, after looking at the UC Personal Statement prompts, I was confused about the whole process. Is it 1 full essay or 3 separate responses? I’ve asked a couple people and I’ve gotten both answers. I’m pretty sure it’s 3 responses though, but the couple people who said 1 full essay made me second guess my initial thought. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!

you are right, it is three

if i remember correctly, you choose any one of the questions to write a 600 word essay on and then you write a 200 word essay for the two left over questions. the essays total 1000 words

Three individual responses for the three prompts. One of the responses, made at your own discretion, will be a 600 word response. The remaining two will be 200 word responses. Stay close to the limit as you possibly can.

i got the impression that it was more along the lines of give one essay a good long answer (600 + or -) and then the other a decent one (200 + or -) but i never thought it was like:

200 word limit for two (set in stone) kind of deal.

could someone correct me if i am wrong.

the online application has an internal word counter. the application gave me some flexibility both ways; it wasn't 200 words "set in stone."
