Personal Statement

So I finally got around to working on it.
On the first prompt, "what is your intended major", what if I am using the PS for UCI's Global Cultures major and UCLA's Linguistics and Asian Languages and Cultures. Pretty much I have the thing written but it's more like I answered the question what do you want to be. I explained why I wanted to teach English in a foreign country and stuff like that but I have never in my 357 words mentioned Global Cultures or Linguistics.

Do you think the prompt is just... misleading? That we should talk about our aims not the school's major?

No I think it means intended major, but you are allowed to select alternates so maybe mention how each would apply to what you want to do?

Oh. So I should really mention the particular major you want to get into with that school. and just say OR blah blah blah major.

I am mentioning the particular major I am to and what made me interested in it, I think your majors are similar enough to be able to do this. What do others recommend??

IDK. No other responses. I think I’m just going to mention everything why I want to become a teacher… and then in the last paragraph say like with these tihngs, I chose to do this major.

I think that sounds like a good plan

Hahhaa omg… Another person that started their essay TODAY?! HOLY **** CC, YOU ARE HILARIOUS!

@USN: Yeah I just did it like that. I finished it with 492 words in 3 paragraphs.

@CalBerks I know… and you are very helpful. :D

I know, I’m not being helpful. I apologize for that, but seriously, why didn’t you start this earlier? This is a serious question, I’m interested to know how other human beings think.

Oh. It’s because I have a 27 unit school load, going to two schools with Psycholinguistics, Linguistics Anthropology and Intercultural Linguistics. The PsychoLing and LingAnth are really heavy classes. Also, I have two Honors Geography class that demands reading and map making. What else…? My time at home usually consists of doing my Child Development online class.

I really did not have the time. I had at least three papers a week. I had to double up on some of the recent weeks to just get some work squeezed in my apps. I was doing them while I sit in lecture, taking notes and it’s just the PS that I didn’t get to do.

I’m more concerned that the admissions officers want to learn something about you as a person. The prompt “What is your intended major?” only needs one sentence in your introduction or conclusion to answer, and you build up to that answer by telling a good story.

Hopefully, that is what you have already done.
