PeteEng undergrd, need resume/intern help

I am a petroleum engineering undergraduate at Texas A&M. I transferred from the University of Houston. This fall is my second semester at A&M. I am currently in my third year of college, but due to transferring schools and some different pre-reqs, I am currently taking my sophomore level classes in the Pete Eng. undergrad program at A&M.

My GPA at UH was a 3.62, and my first semester's GPA at A&M was a 3.46

I am trying to get a petroleum engineering related internship with an oil/gas company in the summer of 2012. Can anyone give me some tips on how to attain one?

There is a career fair next week but what are the chances of me, an undergrad with no previous work experience in this type of industry, landing an internship from a career fair that thousands of students attend? dont get me wrong-- ive attended workshops and events relating to the industry, but when it comes to work experience, i have none.

I have heard that the career center at A&M and the career center website helps with finding internship opportunities. i visited the website and found some relating internships. along with my resume, should i also attach a cover letter to the contact listed? anything else i might need to add?

also, here is my resume. any feedback or tips?

Thank you!

Just to be nitpicky, but if you transferred, then you don’t say that you have a B.S. from the first school. Instead of saying “Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering,” say “Major: Petroleum Engineering” or something along those lines.

thank you for your feedback, i’ll make the change.

anyone else please?

Usually oil companies offer selective internships meaning they will have a specific internship for Freshman and Sophomores and then one specifically for juniors and seniors. The best way to get connected is to submit your resume on your school’s career website in order to have it ready to apply for positions and then talk to your adviser or personnel (secretary) in the PETE department. They have all the info on scholarships and internships.

thanks for the advice man, i’ll definitely look into what you said.

appreciate it.

list relevant coursework
