Petroleum Eng - Masters, NMT or ULL

I have a non-PE background and would like to pursue a Masters in Petroleum engineering at New Mexico Tech or U. of Louisiana at Lafayette. I got admitted to both...

Which school do you think is better in terms of

a) being able to find a job after graduation

b) the training

What do you think ?

^ My dad was a pretoleum engineer for 76 and graduated from U of La Verne… found a job within 4 months after graduation. The main thing is what school u come from, prestige, presentation, your GPA and if you’re only majoring in that. My dad had 2 Bachelo’s and one minor.

ummmm… I say New Mexico…

Haikumarukuchan,

Is New Mexico tech considered a prestigious school in your state ? They are in the top 10 in the Petro E. rankings, but I am not sure if the rest of the country knows a whole lot about them.

I just like everything I have read about them though.

Petroleum Engineering is a specialized field. Everyone who works in that field knows which schools offer it, and which schools don’t. Only their opinions count about these programs because they are the ones doing the hiring.
