Petroleum Engineering Colleges

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to this site. Just wondering how the different petroleum engineering colleges stack up. I take it UT Austin's programs considered to be the best. How does Texas A&M, LSU, Penn State, OU and Colorado School of Mines compare? Will it really make a difference where you choose to get a degree?

I would go to any college in Texas since they should have great connections to local oil companies.

Search for threads on the forum regarding Petroleum Engineering universities. There is already a lot of information available to answer your question.

I think Rice University would be the best University for Petroleum Engineering.

Texas A&M and UT
LSU / Texas Tech / Oklahoma
Penn State

That’s how I would rank them.

Any Pet E degree is good. There are very few schools that offer the major. Don’t get caught up in the “rankings”. Find a school that fits you academically and geographically and go for it. Do not spend money you don’t have trying to force fit a certain school for Pet E.

ANd FWIW, Rice University does not have Pet E.

Texas A&M had 100% job placement last year for Petroleum Engineer majors
