pharmacy at NEU

How's the pharmacy at NEU ?????

havent heard much about it. i know its not ranked high at all but that doesnt mean its not good.....

i am a student in the pharmacy program at northeastern.. i absolutely love it so far

The reason northeastern is ranked so low is that they are a 0-6 program. This means they will directly accept students (when they apply in hs) for all 6 years as long as they have maintain a 2.7 for the first 2 years. This means that almost no one has a bachelor's degree. It means that they have a higher drop out rate mostly due to switching major (how many seniors in hs really know what they want to do for the rest of their life?) It also means that the avg GPA of students accepted is lower... this is why they are ranked low, along with almost all of the 0-6 programs. Id also like to add that when an employer is looking at pharmacists Id doubt theyd care where their school was ranked.

My son is a freshman in the pharmacy program and so far he loves it. I agree with nimee2 except for the statement about avg GPA. We were told by Northeastern that pharmacy has now become their most competitive program. My son and many of the entering class have SAT scores over 1400, all honors,ap classes etc. I know of several outstanding students who were not offered admission. We were also told told by people in healthcare that the program is very highly regarded. Do not put too much weight in rankings.

its the college gpa (in northeastern's case, the 1st 2 prereq yrs) NOT the hs gpa that gets figured into the national rankings...
