Pharmacy near campus ???

what pharmacy is most convenient to the campus of Tulane?

I believe there is Rite Aid and Walgreens on the street car line not too far away.

Pharmacies are not within walking distance, and therefore, if a kid is REALLY sick, as mine was (mono and various stomach issues), she has to use Tulane’s pharmacy, which is not covered under normal health insurance. Tulane’s pharmacy is covered under Tulane Health insurance however.

I thought there was a Walgreen’s by the Camellia Grill, no? That is walkable. The larger one at Carrollton and Claiborne is a bit far to walk.

I know there is the RiteAid right on St. Charles by the school. Does it not have a pharmacy? I know DD told me she was walking to a walgreens at one time with at friend. Must be close if they walked.

I assume if the kid has to drag herself to the health center, the local pharmacies are just too far

The Walgreens on Carrollton near St. Charles (the one by Camellia Grill) is certainly walkable if you need shampoo or whatnot, or a regular prescription. However, I would agree that it’s way too far to walk if you’re sick and need to pick up a one-time somethingerother for a cold or infection.

Well in that case, isn’t Walgreen’s on the streetcar line?

It is, but I understand the point that if one is really ill, the on-campus option might be best. I don’t think anyone delivers any more, but they used to. Ah the good old days.

I thought there was a Rite aid or something near the corner of St Charles and Broadway, that tended to sell more booze than pharmacy items. But I may be remembering incorrectly. I did find this [Uptown Delivery Pharmacy, New Orleans, LA : Reviews and maps - Yahoo! Local](http://local.yahoo.com/info-18161273-uptown-delivery-pharmacy-new-orleans) According to their name- they deliver

Rite Aid does not have a pharmacy. Sometimes the health center can fill a prescription but not always. If you have a sick student that needs a prescription that the health center cannot fill have the Dr phone (email) it to Walgreens and have the student take a cab and have them wait for them. The trip on the streetcar is just too long if they are really sick.

I don’t think Uptown is part of our Rx insurance plan either. We needed CVS, Walgreen or RiteAid. I asked my d about the posters who said there were pharmacies in walking distance (“asked” is the polite term). She said, “MOM I WAS DYING!!” If the kid waits for the illness to be at death’s door, the only option is Tulane’s pharmacy.

Hmmm… maybe my DS should start a side business picking up and delivering prescriptions. He happens to have pharmacy tech certification too!

jym–that is a fabulous idea!!!

Hmmm… how much should he charge??

$5.00 per Rx. Birth control pills alone will have him swimming in money!

Umm… between the cost of gas and the time involved, it doesn’t seem worth it. :(

Average of 5-10 Rxs/day and he could use a bike

If your dau brokers/coordinates the people asking for RX and gets them all paid for in advance, along with the written permission for him to pick them up, maybe we’re onto something.
With all those pills he’d need a big backpack!

He’d be mortified asking to pick up all those BCPs!

///He’d be mortified asking to pick up all those BCPs! ///

he would certainly have the inside scoop
