Pharmacy school questions

So i am current a UC student and want to apply to pharmacy school next year. i have most of the requirements for pharmacy school. I have been told they dont really look at your major. does this mean you can pretty much get in with any major, as long as you have the school requirements? please let me know, thanks

Exactly. You just have to have taken (and passed) all of the pre-requisite courses and meet any other minimum GPA or PCAT requirements if they have them. Some schools may favor certain majors, but the only way to find that out would be to talk to people on the adcomms.

Another “yes” here. Schools will look at your Math/Science gpa in those required re-requisites (most important) and will consider your overall gpa somewhat. AND your PCAT score is VERY important (unless you apply to a school that doesn’t require it). The timing of all elements of your application is critical. The PCAT is not given many times a year. I’m a parent and not the applicant, so I don’t remember much detail, but I know it required careful planning well in advance. Ideally list some experience in a health care setting - the closer to pharmacy -or patient care the better.

Agreed  you can major in anything from accounting to toxicology, when being admitted to pharmacy school, you must simply complete all the school’s pre-requisites.

A major such as Spanish, for example, may help you stand out in the Pharm.D. program application process.
