Hi everyone! I'm currently a high school junior in Texas, and I plan on majoring in pharmacy in college. My choices as of now are:

UNC Chapel Hill
University of Texas At Austin
Purdue University
Auburn University (My dad is an alum)
University of Houston (Safety)

I want to expand my choices, and so I'm asking if there are any pharmacy schools I should add to my list? I would like to be able to go to the same school all 6 years or college, so going to a school with a pharmacy program would be nice. I don't have any geographic restrictions, nor any cost ones.

My stats...4.32 GPA weighted, 3.79 unweighted, 2140 SAT, currently taking 4 AP classes. Class Rank...11%.

USC is out because my mom wont let me go there, or it would be my third choice.

hey I’m looking into the pharmacy side too… there’s a program at university of the pacific that you might wanna look into, and I have a friend in a program at Rutgers…

Yeah, I’ve already looked into the Pacific, it costs a lot of money and my family doesn’t qualify for financial aid ); hahaha. I will check out Rutgers! Is it any good?

It’s hard to argue with your list as is. Michigan has a strong science and Grad Pharmacy school and your stats might put you in the running for some of their merit scholarships to help with the OOS tuition.

I’m sure you already are aware of Auburn’s Scholarships – if not it’s certainly worth looking at since you look like you pretty easily qualify for close to 2/3 tuition.

susgeek-I’ve looked at Buffalo, but I’m not sure if it’s for me.

Prospect60- Awesome, thank you! Do you have to apply? Or…do they offer the scholarships? Also, as for Michigan, I’m just worried about my class rank.

I’m not sure about Auburn, but at a lot of schools it can be an automatic offer and often tied to an Honors application. Certainly talk with the FA people at Auburn.

Since your dad is an Auburn grad I’m not sure how he’ll react to this:
UA actually has some stronger automatic scholarships (full OOS tuition) for 3.5GPA and 1400SAT (M+CR, but I’m not sure of your breakdown) and a very impressive up and coming Honors Program. You could do the Pre-Pharmacy UG and apply to Auburn (or elsewhere) for Grad school

Yeh, I looked on the Auburn website and it offers honors housing and such if you’re offered the Presidential scholarship. Is honors housing much different from regular?

And…that’s an idea! I’ve never looked at UA, but I hear it’s good. My dad just might be like what the…haha. But I’ll check it out.

I hear rutger’s is pretty good… I’m applying there this year my gpa and sat is a bit lower than yours though XP but gpa doesn’t factor much for me cause I changed schools halfway through high school… I think it’s a bit better than purdue though

You say that you want to go to the same school for 6 years, but you don’t appear to be considering 0-6 or pre-assurance schools. Here are some that should be considered as well.

Butler
Drake
Ohio Northern
University of Findlay
University of the Pacific
St. Louis College of Pharmacy
Manchester College (will have new pharmacy school so easier admitance)

Midwestern College pharmacy program also has direct admits for students from Loyola, Millikin, Illinois institute of Technology and a few more.

My experience with Purdue is that it is still very difficult to get into Purdue after only two years. While the college has a slight preference, students are competing with people all across the country with BS degrees. The student doctor network websites are very helpful in determining which colleges accept without bachelor degrees. Keep in mind that once you begin year 3 in most schools you will be a graduate student and your financial aid will no longer be scholarships.

Yes. It’s a catholic University, but very open. Most students attend St. John are not Christian, so don’t worry about the religious stuff too much.

In New York most people know St. John’s pharmacy, and a lot of students went to St. John because they majored in Pharmacy program.

So if you are interested in living in New York then you are good. St. John is generous with FA package (well to local students like me). I don’t know much about students from Texas.
