What exactly do pharmacists do anyway? My current perception is that they just get pills for problems.

Why do they get paid a lot? Is it something that requires skill? Is it interesting?

Not pharmacologists, but pharmacists.

Good question. I volunteer at a hospital in pharmacy and it seems to me that all they do is fill prescriptions and then tell me to send pills up. Is there anything intellectually stimulating about being a pharmacist?

My cousin is in school to be a pharmacist but she wants to do research vs. dispensing. From what I gather, if you work at a pharmacy all you do is dispense drugs and make sure that one will not clash with another(ie. a human check aside from computer and doctors judgement). Don't you also mix drugs and such as well? I think you do. They make decent amounts but it is like six years of education.

Personally, I would hate the job... too dull.

It's interesting, I guess. They do make a lot, but there is a lot of work. I heard that you have to memorize nearly all the drugs before you can get certified. They also mix medications, like creams and syrups.

always wondered that myself about pharmacists..
I get paranoid cuz the ones I have around here are unfriendly. and what if they mix the wrng stuff? also they can kill you.
:P

Can't you just use a reference book for that sort of stuff? Research is one thing but dispensing sounds not all that great.
