What do pharmacists do? Help...

When i think of a pharmacist, i imagine a person who sells medicine in white uniform. I like chemistry so i was thinking of being a pharmacist because its all about chemistry. But then when i think of pharmacists, they seem to have boring life, memorizing all the names of medicines, drugs.

Dispense medicine all day....it's the most boring job in the world. They can't pay me enough to do it. I'd still become a Currency Trader even if pharmacists made more money. It's the worst job ever. And I also despise, detest and abhor science with the deepest passion. :D

Well I work in a CVS Pharmacy as a pharmacy tech, and the pharmacists there work really hard. Besides the obvious memorizing of medicine names and their uses, they know how to decipher doctor's handwritings, expertly use the computer and technology in a pharmacy, what to substitute for certain medications, exactly where everything is, and dispense a lot of medical advice. They work long days (usually 9 am to 9 pm) but they are paid a lot so I guess it's worth it :) Usually at night time business is slow and you get a lot of free time to just chat with them and for the most part they're really smart, nice people.

thanks for the great comments ^^

Ikeep wondering when people say it's hard to get into pharmacy school? Isn't it all computerized? I think most doctor's do drug screens to make sure what you're on works. Pharmasists print off lists of side effects and then offer to read them to you. Mine does this very seriously when explaining acne meds. Really, it seems like they put pills in pill counters.
